Speak up to your leaders

Good leaders cultivate honest speech; they love advisors who tell them the truth. Proverbs 16:13 (The Message)

Good team leaders never want yes-men. They need direct and honest communication from their people. I have always encouraged people on my team to speak openly and directly with me. Our meetings are often brainstorming sessions where the best idea wins. Often, a team member's remarks or observations really help the team. Sometimes we disagree. That's okay, because we've developed strong enough relationships that we can survive conflict. Getting everything out on the table always improves the team. The one thing I never want to hear from a teammate is, "I could have told you that wouldn't work." If you know it beforehand, that's the time to say it.

Besides directness, the other quality team members need to display when communicating with their leaders is respect. Leading a team isn't easy. It takes hard work. It demands personal sacrifice. It requires making tough and sometimes unpopular decisions. We should respect the people who take on leadership roles and show them loyalty.

The Right Attitude Comes First

The development of a positive attitude is the first conscious step toward becoming an effective leader. Successful leadership cannot be constructed without this crucial building block.

Seeing A Greater Purpose In Adversity

But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself! We are all here!" - Acts 16:28

Paul and Silas had just been thrown into prison. An earthquake erupted and the jail cell was opened. It's Paul and Silas' opportunity. "Deliverance! Praise God!" might be the appropriate response. But this is not what Paul and Silas did. In fact, rather than leave, they sat quietly in their cell area. The guard, in fear of his life, knew that it would be automatic death if prisoners escaped. Paul and Silas did not leave because they saw a higher purpose for which they were in prison. They were not looking at their circumstance; they were much more concerned about the unsaved guard. The story goes on to explain how Paul and Silas went home with the guard and his family. Not only did the guard get saved, but his entire household as well.

What a lesson this is for us. How often we are so busy looking for deliverance from our circumstance that we miss God completely. God is looking to do miracles in our circumstances if we will only look for them. Sometimes as workplace believers we become so obsessed with our goals we miss the process that God involves us in, which may be where the miracle lies. What if that bill collector who has been hounding you is unsaved and he is there for you to speak to? What if a problem account has arisen due to something God is doing beyond what you might see at this time? Our adverse situations can often be the door of spiritual opportunity for those who need it.

I saw this personally when God allowed me to go through a number of adversities. It took some time, but I saw some great miracles as a result of those adversities. When God said that "all things work together for good for those who are called according to His purposes" (see Rom. 8:28), He meant all things. It is up to us to find the "work together for good" part by being faithful to the process. In the next adversity you face, tune your spiritual antennae and ask God for discernment to see the real purpose for the adversity.

People will fail us, it cannot be avoided. we must learn that God alone is our Saviour and Salvation. '

Call out to God and He will save you (v5). No matter the wrong that others do to us, no matter how much people don't care or misunderstand us - God is with us, don't be afraid (v6)!

In times of confusion and trouble, call out to God, run and hide under the shadow of His wings, under the shelter of His love.

God won't let you fall (v13).

When anything comes against you, cut it off in the name of Jesus! proclaim Christ is Lord over all, rebuke evil and the devil in the mighty name of Jesus!

People are attacking me because I believe in Jesus - but in the name of the LORD I cut them off!

Troubles and persecution are pushing me down - but in the name of the LORD I cut them off!

Darkness and confusion block my path - but in the name of the LORD I cut them off!

My family is in financial trouble - but in the name of the LORD I cut them off!

Laziness and spiritual indifference is pulling me away from God - but in the name of the LORD I cut them off!

Hurts and unforgiveness are stopping me from loving others - but in the name of the LORD I cut them off!

In everything, I proclaim the Lordship and Goodness of Our God!

The Work of God
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 2 by Os Hillman

May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us -- yes, establish the work of our hands (Ps 90:17).
Martin Luther brought the word of God back to the people. Today, God is bringing the work of God back to the people. God never intended the clergy to be the primary distribution channel of His Gospel. You and I are the distribution channel -- those of us in the workplace.
The local church is simply the franchise to equip and release His army into the world to effect every aspect of society. Today, God is establishing mini-franchises in the form of prayer groups and Bible studies in the workplace. He is igniting the silent remnant of workplace believers who have never realized, until now, that their work really is their ministry. It is a holy calling on par with vocational ministry.
Our local franchises (churches) should be viewed as mini battle ships designed to raise an army of qualified warriors who can pray, create, and influence their workplaces and industries with a biblical worldview. We must be reminded of God's perfect plan found in Ephesians 4:11-13.
"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
The next time you are tempted to pass ministry responsibility to your pastor, remember what Ephesians 4 says. After all, there are no part-time Christians in His Kingdom. We may get our checks in secular fields, but our ministry is full-time.

In everything that he undertook in the service of God's temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered. - 2 Chronicles 31:21

Hezekiah was a godly king. He was also a very talented businessman and builder. He was responsible for many noteworthy projects that are described in detail in the Old Testament. We discover from the passage above that King Hezekiah had two major attributes that contributed to his success and prosperity: He sought God, and he worked wholeheartedly upholding God's laws.

Godly success involves a partnership between you and God. Success in God's economy means achieving the purpose for which God made you. That purpose can never be discovered without seeking Him with a whole heart. You may achieve great things without seeking God, but you will never achieve the things God set out for you to achieve without seeking Him. Unless you seek Him, you may find yourself one day climbing to the top of the ladder only to find it leaning against the wrong wall.

What does it mean to seek God? It means creating time to sit before His throne in quiet places. It means reading His Word in order to know Him more intimately. It means developing an ear to hear His voice so that we know when to turn to the right or to the left. God desires to know you.

Are you willing to take the time to know Him? If so, you can be sure He will guide you into those things that will bring success to every aspect of your life.

Update on Mee Hwa 2nd Dec (Advent Sunday)

Pls Pray!

Dear Friends

Today is Advent Sunday. This is when we remember the coming of Jesus into this world. The Scriptures tell us that His 2 ^nd coming will be with great power and in great glory!

Today is the 5^th week since Mee Hwa has been diagnosed with Stage IV Lung adenocarcinoma. It has been challenging, to say the least, adjusting to new priorities while juggling between different demands and responsibilities. Thankfully, we have been supported and cared for by so many wonderful people through practical assistance, care and encouragement- Mee Hwa's close personal friends, Pearly, Peter, Staff members and various others from St Paul's, church friends from St George's, SJSM and elsewhere, our beloved Cambodian brethren, family members, and many more others who quietly support us in the background. We are truly indebted to all of you for your love and kindness. Above all, may I especially thank you for faithfully upholding Mee Hwa in your constant prayers. The last update sent out was that of 13 ^th Nov. There have been several encouraging developments since and good reasons to give thanks and praise to God for. Hallelujah! We can see our Lord's gracious hand at work.

UPDATE:

1.     Mee Hwa has completed her 10 sessions of radiotherapy last Wednesday the 21^st Nov and appeared to have made good progress. The results were that the intensity of the headaches had been significantly reduced immediately thereafter. These have subsequently disappeared altogether since Sunday the 25 ^th Nov. All praise and thanks be to God!

a)        Mee Hwa continues to be on the steroid(dexamethasone) to reduce inflammation in her brain lining. The dosage was halved on Saturday 24 ^th Nov (to one 4mg tablet a day) and further halved (to 2mg a day) from the 1^st Dec onwards for a week.

b)       Mee Hwa has stopped taking the painkiller tramadol altogether since completing radiotherapy. With the headaches having subsided significantly, she began to sleep very much better as a result. Her appetite has also returned and she has since been eating rather voraciously. We were informed that this was also likely to be due to the steroid(dexamethasone) she is on.

c)        One unavoidable outcome of the radiotherapy was hair loss. The good news is that her hair is expected to re-grow in due course.

2.     Mee Hwa has begun taking one 150mg Tarceva tablet once a day since the 22^nd Nov. This is the orally targeted therapy. Unlike chemotherapy, it will only deal with the cancerous cells. This again is a systemic treatment which has been known to show good results. Mee Hwa has an outbreak of pimples/acne as a side effect. We were told that this was desirable as it shows that the drug is working.

3.     According to the oncologist, Mee Hwa's MRI of her spine did not show any visible compromise and her spinal cord sheath looked normal, thus there was no need for the Lumber Puncture(LP) to extract the Cerebral Spinal Fluid(CSF) for analysis. Thank the Lord that her CSF and spinal cord have been preserved and that she has been spared the painful LP procedure.

4.     As said, Mee Hwa has been eating very well and has managed to put on quite a bit more weight, thanks once again to all the wonderful food and nourishing juices she has been supplied with by friends, Church people and relatives. She has been able to move her bowels normally for over a week without the aid of a laxative(lactulose). Praise the Lord!

5.     Lina and Pisey who had arrived from Cambodia since Sunday night(11^th Nov) have just returned back on the 30^th Nov. Nari has already arrived since the 26 ^th Nov to take over for a month. Sara has also returned to S'pore at the same time. Our Cambodian brethren continue to provide much comfort and encouragement to Mee Hwa besides practical assistance. We want to praise the Lord too for friends who have made it possible for them to spend time with Mee Hwa!

PRAYER:

May I kindly request that, using Advent as a theme, you would pray for the in-breaking of the Lord's power and authority into Mee Hwa's life that would result in a miraculous healing work to her body. Pray for a powerful visitation of the Lord and a mighty intervention of the Holy Spirit into her condition. Is there anything too difficult for the Lord? Please would you kindly continue to persist in prayer together with us for Mee Hwa's complete physical healing.

Please pray for the following:

1       Treatment:

a.        Pray for the Holy Spirit to continue to breathe new life into Mee Hwa daily and bring wholeness and healing to her.

b.       Pray for the treatment with Tarceva that this will produce lasting healing effects . Pray too for the Lord's protection over Mee Hwa's vital organs against any ill and undesirable effects from the treatment. Pray for protection over Mee Hwa's entire body, especially her brain and the Central Nervous System from any infection or injury and that her CSF will be free from cancerous activity or cells.

c.        Pray against any possible spinal cord compression caused by the cancer cells weakening her thoracic and lumbar vertebrae. Signs being numbness and weakness in her lower limbs or incontinence in her bowels or bladder. So far, there has been no pain in her bones. We praise and thank the Lord for this but would continue to covet your prayers.

2       Mee Hwa:

a.     Praise the Lord that the migraines/headaches have gone. Please pray that Mee Hwa will continue to enjoy more and more a general sense of well-being daily. The vomiting and nausea have stopped. Please pray that this will continue to be that way from now on. Praise be to God!

b.       Pray that Mee Hwa gets high quality and refreshing sleep each night and is well-rested. Pray that she will enjoy her rest in the Lord's presence and wait patiently for the fullness of His healing to be released on her. Pray that she will be physically strengthened to face and to overcome all odds in this battle against the ailment. Pray for God's strength and His all-sufficient grace to sustain Mee Hwa at all times.

c.     Praise the Lord that Mee Hwa is able to eat and enjoy a wide variety of food as she is no longer struggling to keep food down. She needs to continue to receive good physical nourishment. Praise the Lord for the many friends and loved ones who have come round with all sorts of nutritious food, soups, juices etc to feed her. Also, for all those who have been blessing and helping in many practical ways that they too will be blessed and refreshed in the Lord daily.

d.     Praise the Lord for the many encouragements, prayers and testimonies she continues to receive from all of you(cards, notes, emails etc) and from those who have ministered to and shared with Mee Hwa too. These have helped and encouraged her and us so much.

3       Wai Mung and Sara:

a.     Sara has returned to Singapore as planned on the 26^th Nov. Praise the Lord that she has had a blessed and enjoyable time renewing ties with loved ones, friends and relatives in Phnom Penh. Pray that she will find ways and means to

b.     Wai Mung has been able to begin to adjust to a new work pattern under the current circumstances. Please pray for wisdom and strength daily to cope with these changes. Pray also that he will have time to relax and be recharged in the midst of all that is happening without sacrificing quality care and time with Mee Hwa. A story is told about F.B. Meyer, the great Bible teacher and pastor who lived a century ago. He was pastoring a church and began to notice that attendance was suffering. This continued until he finally asked some members of his congregation one Sunday morning why they thought attendance was down.

A member volunteered, "It is because of this new church down the road. The young preacher has everyone talking and many are going to hear him speak."

His name was Charles Spurgeon. Meyer, rather than seeking to discourage this, exhorted the entire congregation to join him and go participate in seeing this "move of God" as he described it to his congregation.

"If this be happening, then God must be at work."

Meyer, even though he was an accomplished preacher and teacher, recognized where God was at work and joined Him in it. [The author heard this on a radio show from Key Life Ministries with Steve Brown, based in Orlando, Florida.]

Can you imagine this story taking place in our competitive world today? Competition has penetrated the Church so much that many churches and Christian organizations approach ministry like a sports event. They view their mission as a business that seeks to gain market share among Christians - donors, members, influence - all under the name of God. I am sure God looks down at us and asks, "Whatever happened to John 17:23?" Sometimes we must remind our fellow servants that we are all on the same team! We should be seeking to impact the Kingdom of God, not increase our own market share.

When Jesus made this statement about unity in John 17:23, it represented the key to bringing salvation to many. He was saying that when His Body is unified, the non-Christian would be able to see who Jesus really is - the Son of God. Are you contributing to unity in the Body of Christ? Or are you contributing to a spirit of competition? Ask God where you can be an instrument of unity in His Body.

3) comfort
4) for the fun of it

During one of my Economics lesson, my teacher tested us. Why do you study Economics? Then few answers came out... Then later he told us something that really made sense. The more reasons you have to do something, the easier it becomes.

Just like you work hard in your career, because you have a family to support, you want to buy nice stuff for yourself, you want to do charity, you want to keep it in the bank to get interest, you want to use it to invest in shares to earn greater money, whatever.

With all these reasons, we're driven to accomplish something or just attempt it, even though its difficult, tedious, and maybe near impossible. Our reasons become our driving force...

Let's take a look at Jesus... He died for us, died for God's purpose in us... One reason, JUST 1 REASON!!! yet he did something so great, so as to give up his life...

though 1 reason of jesus's compared to our many many uncountable reasons to do things may seem pathetic, but its a powerful one. Because, the reason is for God...

Though doing things FOR God is just one reason, but it is a very powerful reason... much more powerful than any reason... Why? Cos besides being our driving force, God also gives us strength, and many other blessings. So in whatever we do, let God be the first reason you do things, followed by any other minor reasons you have =)

I think it was quite a cool experience, to see 2 different kinds of worship going on in one house!

we are declaring victory over the enemy, because they will flee in the name of Jesus! as we stand strong by relying on the Holy Spirit, the light begins to shine brighter and brighter!

Let's Bring The Church Out

I was praying last night and this verse just came to my mind: “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” - Luke 14:11

Sometimes, when we do things, we tend to forget that we're doing this for Christ. We do things to let people see how good or how spiritual we are. As a Christian, I feel this is one thing we should always look out for. Not in others - but in ourselves.

I was having a drink with Isaiah yesterday (I hoped you all didn't forget to fast) and he told me this: “If Mohammed don't want to go to the mountain, bring the mountain to Mohammed”. We can apply it to the church as well - bring the church to the people! It's not the building that is the church. We, the people, are the church!

Later at night I was reading the book of Luke, I read about the parable about the lost sheep, the lost coin and the lost son. Let me share the one about the lost sheep. If a man has a 100 sheep and and one of them goes missing, wouldn't he leave the other 99 and search for the lost one?

The Bible continues to teach that he will joyfully carry it back home and asks his neighbours to rejoice with him! In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents than the 99 others who haven't strayed away.

Let's all look for the people who have gone missing. I pray that God will give us the strength and direction to do just that. Remember, if people don't want to go to church, we bring the church to the people.

Doing What We're Called To Do

I believe that our God is a full-time faithful God. But sometimes we're not being that full-time Christian that God wants us to be. We would fall into traps laid out by Satan without knowing it but God is always there to pick us up. Sometimes, we would fall into these traps willingly because we find it easier to live with the devil.

Christians love to blame the evil one when they sin. But they don't realise the fact that they chose to fall into it. I've been praying for strength to overcome the evil one. Everytime I fall, God picked me up as a stronger person.

Recently, I felt very burdened with stuffs. I've seen a few people come and go and it just pains me. People who've been seeking God and in the next minute, they're gone - just like that. I just feel that there are more things about to happen. I pray that He will give us a direction.

Early last week, I just felt the Holy Spirit impressing something upon my heart but I ignored it because I think it's just me and my wild imagination because it was too impossible to believe. Soon after, I found out that it was true.

But it ends there. I pray that God will tell someone what to do with it because I don't know what's going to happen but I just have a bad feeling about it. When God calls us to do something, do it.

Of trees and hope

How many of us actually take time to notice the trees or bushes by the roadside, as we walk along a pavement, or drive along a road? Probably no one... and probably you'll think it's meaningless.

It just sways in the breeze, unnoticed, unrecognised... Who will actually care to groom it, or know how many leaves they have, or whether they rot to death or not? But no matter how it gets ignored, it still continues to photosynthesize and replenish the oxygen in the air, something very crucial to the earth, which we most of the time fail to realise. Though they continually help others around them by doing what they do, we usually fail to realise how crucial and important they are to us...

Plants have many wonders besides replenishing oxygen. Maybe the leaves of these plants have medicinal value, or fruits that are edible to feed people, but has yet to be discovered? Yes, plants have many mysteries that require people to DISCOVER them...

Take some time to compare ourselves with the trees on the roadside... Though we may not be recognised or find what we do very meaningless, but do take some time to realise that whatever routine we are going through now, we may be blessing many others around us without knowing it. yes, our routine. And we have many aspects have yet to realise about ourselves, and the discoverer is none other than God our creator . We may be comparable to only a grass at times, only serve for people to step or dogs to shit on, but Do not despair, because we are miraculously and amazingly made. Everyone is special =)

Cool eh? the numbers nicely fall nicely together, and both talk about hope.

Hoping for something doesn't necessarily bring happiness, mainly because, there are still chances that things will turn out wrong eventually. I guess the message to be joyful in hope is because hope is very related to faith. One cannot exist without the other. And also, hoping gives us a drive to move on, to press on. It gives us a purpose and a direction to work towards.
Therefore, even if things do not turn out as "hoped" , we'll still learn something called perseverence. Probably we may get something even better than we hoped for without knowing.... of course hopes will be useless without effort, and most importantly without faith and prayer... =)

What's Worship

I've been thinking about what really is communal worship (what we always do during service). With all those drums and music notes, we worship God with our skills and heart. In the past, I only know one thing about standing up there with the worship team.

It's not a place for you to show off but to lead the congregation and worship God with all your heart.

But recently, after being together with the worship team for a few weeks, I started to learn about the technical side of things. "Hey, that must be louder" / "Hey, the feel must be there" / "Hey, this and that". The reason for all these is "we want to give our best to God".

And I've been praying/thinking, what really is communal worship. I received an e-mail about worship excellence. It says worship excellence is about leading the people to worship and not to distract them and cause them to look at the worship team instead. Somehow, I felt funny after reading that and I just deleted that e-mail away.

So yesterday, I told someone about this and that someone asked me: "Is it still excellence when the worship team has one guitar less or someone is only leading with one guitar". Someone else told me to read the book of Psalms and Revelations. And I've been praying.

Any someone out there willing to share with me anything?

Faith! What a wonderful post. so encouraging. the timing of your post is just right, coming to me and giving me a reminder of God's faithfulness!

Dear Ones,

Brandon, Caleb, Jonathan, Joseph, Faith, Sheena, Ben, David.

I've been spending some time over the past few days. looking back and just remembering how far all of you have come.

2 moments always stick in my mind:
*the 1st Unified Youth Camp in June 2006. i can remember praising God when so many put up their hand and made the decision to follow Jesus, Liang Rong was one of the 1st hands up.
*1st July 2006, in the kitchen. when Nic told me that Caleb, Faith & Sheena opened their hearts to God.

These are some of the memories that i thank God for.

And every time I see the signs of growth in all of you, i praise God:
*When i received David's sms encouragement yesterday morning for the seminar
*When Joseph reminded us about QT
*When Faith posted such a meaningful post.
*When some of you open up and share and come forward for prayer
*when you all willingly share your testimonies

Constantly, i thank God for all of you. and i thank God for the privilege and honour He has given me, to be able to guide and share with all of you.

My prayer for all of you is that you learn to support one another, to help and to serve one another out of love.
Watch out and cover each other in love and prayer. learn to stand on your own faith, and may your faith lead and bless others into the kingdom of God.

I hope that you have learnt something over all these past months. remember, don't follow something, just because i told you or forced you.
instead, learn the heart of it. some times if i have been hard on you, i want you to remember: it is only out of love for you and love for Christ, that i do all i do.
Follow only if your heart truly believes it and you really want to do it. let everything you do, be done out of faith.

remember, we must not become Christian "actors"! dont do things to please others, but honour God in all you do!
Be the real deal cos we are weak, but God is Strong! Amen?

let your faith rise up, rise up on the wind of the Holy Spirit. Not by my instructions or because you are afraid i will "korean style" you (ask joseph what is this)!

Love God's people
Don't lose hope in people, because we have a faithful God!
Go in God's Holy Spirit, not in our own strength!

Look far, and be strong in the faith now! God has a wonderful plan for you. some doors may close, some opportunities are lost; But pray and seek God: see the NEW doors He will open up for you!

I'm sitting here at 745am in the lobby of a hotel writing this post =)

How's everyone been? I believe many of us have been going through some ups and downs over the past few weeks.

some of us struggle through work or school or in our relationships at home or with friends.

sometimes life seems so tough, sometimes boring, sometimes we may end up wondering what's the point of it all....

if you have been feeling like that, i want to encourage you to press on!

Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Philippians 3:13-14

leave the past behind, forget about mistakes made and look forward! Think future, think heaven-ward!
Our present troubles shape us and give us a chance to build up our faith.

Sometimes life will get us down, but we just need to look to Jesus!

When you remember this, the next time you are walking alone at night or in the morning, on a nice cloudy day -
LOOK UP! look up and be reminded that God who made heaven and earth so beautiful, He made you as well, and He knows the plan He has for you! =)

Today was really a special moment for all of us I believe. It is truly a wonderful time for me personally, to see you all getting baptised today!
Baptism is one step forward, so what is next? For all of us, I really want you all to continue to pray for our dear Faith, that one day soon she will not only get baptised, but that her whole family will come joyfully to witness it! - This is a day I am looking forward to!

Once again, thank 4 blessing! i had a wonderful time with all of u today at cell.

I think that everyone has grown more open and comfortable with one another (or is it because of the makan!?)

Thanks Sheena & family for opening up their home to us. i really felt today that all our sharings and testimonies has planted some seeds in sheena's family members. when we open our homes to God and the fellowship of His people, there is a transforming power, something changes in the air, in the spiritual atmosphere - as our praises rise up to heaven, the Glory of God comes down upon us! nothing is more powerful that being able to see the transforming power of God thru someone's life! Keep shining brightly and one day "You and your household will be saved" (Acts 16:31)

thanks everyone for opening up and sharing with one another - keep growing in this, deeper and deeper, be a support and blessing to one another.
it is when we share our lives with one another that we grow from each other's experience. somehow, today the sharing was exceptional, everyone today so awake and full of excitement n energy! Praise God =)

remember that there's 3 parts:
Love focus on building up - focus on each other's strength and encourage and build each other up
Love never supports what is wrong and sinful - if your bro or sis is in sin or falls away from God, bring him/her back, keep them in prayer.
Love is also willing to say the difficult things. to say the hard things in Love.

Dear Kairos!

hope everyone had a wonderful time fellowshipping n praising God at FOP!
as i was standing there worshipping, i was reminded again of God's faithfulness to us.
1 yr ago when we went to FOP, most of you were only Christians for 1 month and yet God has kept you and blessed you thru 2 another year!

we don't deserve the blessings, yet His Grace is always with us. Amazing Grace that saved us.

my prayer for you is that you continue 2 stand firm in the Lord, keep growing deeper in love with Him, loving His Word and running after Him!

in a few weeks time you will be going for baptism - that is a special moment in your walk with God. and a special moment for me as well, that God has given me the privilege of seeing you all grow up in Him.

many of you are working through deeeper issues inside of you, some from your past, some from things that are happening to you right now. just remember that it is part of growing - that God begins to bring about that deep inner healing within you as the Holy Spirit works in you. it may be hurtful, it may be tough...but keep holding on to Him, hold on by Faith, not by sight, Hold on in Love, not by feelings.

how's everyone this week? we'll be together in fellowship again at the outreach BBQ tm, but also importantly, it is our day of fasting as well!

as we fast and pray in unity, let's keep ourselves focused on Jesus!
keep ourselves ever mindful that we are saved by the work of Jesus on the cross..

keep our South Korean brothers and sisters in prayer.....one (the pastor) has already been executed the last time i checked. they pay a price that we have yet to pay....pray for the faith that we too will stand firm in the day that our faith is tested....pray for the family of our brothers and sister suffering in Afghanistan now...may GOD's will be done..

Never Give Up!

Don't give up.....
One day I decided to quit...
I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality... I wanted to quit my life.

I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. "God", I asked,

"Can you give me one good reason not to quit?" His answer surprised me...
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.
"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them.
I gave them light.
I gave them water.
The fern quickly grew from the earth.
Its brilliant green covered the floor.

Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said. "In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would not quit." He said.

"Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.

Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant...But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.

I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."

He asked me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots".
"I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you." "Don't compare yourself to others." He said.

"The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern.
Yet they both make the forest beautiful."
"Your time will come", God said to me.

"You will rise high" "How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest and brought back this story.

I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.

Never, Never, Never Give up. For the Christians, prayer is not an option but an opportunity.

Don't tell the Lord how big the problem is, tell the problem how Great the Lord is!

hope everyone had a good time enjoying God's presence and each other's fellowship just now =)

i really want to praise Joseph n Sheena for serving in worship today.

joseph had 2 stay up late 2 do the bulletin (don't worry ruoping, i'm sure we will see nicer and nicer bulletins every week!) and even though he was nervous, i believe that his heart was really focused on worshipping God!

sheena, even though she was stressed out, yet out of her own choice and free will, she came up and carried on playing the drums, even when i gave her the option of resting from the drums.

this is a wonderful example and testimony of having the right attitude, a heart that is focused on seeking and putting God first, above all. like what we learnt from Esther, sometimes we are placed in uncomfortable or difficult situations. but as long as we just give it to God and remember that the Battle belongs to Him, then we're going to be OK! =)

the devil is here, prowling around, trying to break u down, to wear you out, 2 distract you. but remember - The BATTLE IS THE LORD's!
trust God and know that even if you can't feel Him, He's right there with you, trust in Faith! =) trials come 2 test us, 2 show us whether we live what we believe and follow what the Word of God says. stand firm dear ones, stand together as well.

pray for one another, remember each other during your Quiet Time, during your fasting. just like how Mordecai encouraged and supported Esther. we are stronger walking together, make a commitment 2 pray for someone from the cell everyday.

i pray for you guys almost everyday, everytime i remember you - praying for you that you will grow up strong in the Lord, full of faith, hope and Love. and praying that you will live in the centre of God's will all the days of your life =) as much as u all have blessed me, i also want to bless u =) so remember the words of Ephesians 6:18 (memory verse!!!!)

btw, blessed birthday Jonathan!! =) thanks for playing guitar during cell. keep improving, your life is a testimony to those around u, so as u grow older, may u grow wiser and burn and shine brighter for God in every part of your life!!

LONG TIME NO POST !

I've a few prayer request. I'm doing the service bulletin and I'm cracking my head on the design since I have no knowledge on how to do it. Pray for me that God will show me a way/person/idea on how to improve it over the next few weeks.

I did many bad things this week and tried to run away from God but I got stalked by a gay who stays at my block. Maybe God is using him to tell me I can't run away from Him - just like how he made the storm for Jonah.

Pray for me that God will stop letting me have any encounter with gays because they made me really angry with the things they do. Also, I'm having a new girlfriend soon. Her name is Rachel (I really like this name after Isaiah suggested it for Sheena's baptism name because it gives me the impression of a really nice girl) and she might be black in colour depending on the stock available.

Rachel will be the name of my PSP. Pray that she will be very nice and smooth because I'm going to keep her with me all the time. See you guys at cell on Friday!

while i'm writing this, i have to look over my shoulder, in case someone passes by!!

hehe my first post from my office, on my first day at work...was really quite stressed in the morning cos this is a start of a new phase in my life - a full-time career. haha i am missing my mid-day kopi already!

i was quite tensed, but i thank God that He cares for me. twice in the morning He reminded me of His presence.

1) i received an SMS in the morning from a Pastor (he's actually my father's friend) saying:

"MAy u receive a double anointing 2 shine brightly 4 JEsus in dark places. May He protect n provide abundantly 4 U. favouring u with great success" - really God has been good 2 me =)

2) my boss changed my desk to another place and on the cupboard there was a sticker, handwritten by someone (probably the person who used 2 workt ther) saying

"Peace be with you, My peace I give you. do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid"

God is always right by us, with us always. HE will NEVER abandon or leave us! dont be afraid to face a new place or a new face, or even 2 go to places u dont want to be in - cos He's watching over u!

praying and believing God that one day this hall would be filled with young people jumping up and down, praising God with everything they have, giving it all and living for Jesus.

sometimes life is like that - full of uncertainties, full of unknowns, full of "I'm not sure"....but 1 thing is certain is that the Future is in God's Hands. often being faithful means taking risk, walking without knowing the destination.. just like the way God called Abraham 2 follow Him into an unknown future, an unknown land.

the seeds you sow today, the life you live today, the example you set today - it's going to have an effect that you cannot imagine....trust God, He's using you to do wonderful things for Him.

everyone of you is a reminder of God's faithfulness. if you are facing troubles today, remember that He brought you through past struggles and He holds tomorrow in His hand =)

Trust in the LORD with all your heart

it is truly a blessing and encouragement to me as I saw how God touched and challenged all of you. in my heart I know that God has great things in store for all of you, that as long as you are willing, you are going to do wonderful things for God. =)

Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

God is calling you 2 surrender all to Him. God reminded me about a few things during this camp:

Don't think so much, cos I don't need to know all the facts cos God holds tomorrow in His hand
Trust God, let Him surprise me - "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" 1 Cor 2:9
It's not about me - It's the power of God. it doesn't matter how "good", "Holy", how long i've been a christian. It's all God.

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. -2 Corinthians 12:9-10

God has been so good 2 me, to allow me 2 be a blessing to you, 2 serve you, 2 pray for you. He has given me the privilege 2 see with my own eyes His power to save us, His power to change us.

my prayer 4 u is that you will always love God above all else, that your heart will break for what break's His heart, that God's love for you will transform not only you, but your loved ones as well.

that you will bring every challenge and test of faith and put your trust in Him, that you will Love Him, even when you don't feel like it.

that You will be Jesus' Hands and Feet

Love your neighbour - challenge, encourage and bless your brothers and sisters in Christ, pray for your family. love them in good deeds and actions. share your faith by being a living example, a living testimony

Sit and Rest in God's Presence - enjoy spending time alone with God. He's waiting for you :) He loves to spend time with you. doesn't matter your feelings, its not about a spiritual high, it's about faith - Believing when we can't see it. God tells us "BE Still and know that I am God"

Camp Was Great

Camp was fun. It really took my faith to the next level.

For the past few weeks, I've been praying to God to strengthen my faith. Even though I've seen many miracles from him, sometimes I find it difficult to really focus in Him. To be honest, I've this doubt sometimes if God really exists. Isaiah advice me to keep praying and I'm glad I did.

On the 2nd day, I'm supposed to lead the morning devotion for my champion group. It was something like a cell group discussion. Pastor Gary briefed the leaders of the group the night before and that was the only time I thought about the passage.

It was only until the next morning then I realised I haven't prepared for it. We started by reading the chapter in the book of Psalm and opened in a prayer. So I started speaking and words just flowed out of me. I believe that it was the Holy Spirit that was helping me.

So that night was Pastor Daniel's sermon. Before the camp, I heard from you guys that you all were pushed by him and that was why you all fell. I was quite excited about getting slained and see if it's really pushing or it's really God.

I remember Pastor Gary came over and started praying, Isaiah was behind me. I forgot what happened. All I could remember was Pastor Gary was saying "more of you, Lord. more of you, Lord" and *click* I fell.

I lay down for awhile before sitting up and I started to weep. I don't know why but I just cried. I believed all these was the work of the Holy Spirit. The camp has really took my faith to the next level.

As the camp approaches, I'm going to spend the next 2 days in prayer & fasting, on Wed & Thursday.

A few things I am committing to God:

Ruoping - that God's will for you be done: whether your parents sign your consent form or not, I pray for you that you will be a testimony and a Light for Christ in your family! All things happen for the good of those who love Him, so I pray that God's will and His name be glorified in your life =)

Kairos - that as all of you come 2 this camp, the Holy Spirit will impact you and bring you closer and deeper in your relationship with God =) and that you will draw closer to one another as one family united by God's love. That you will come closer to God, not depending on how you feeling, but by faith!

I'll be fasting lunch (means I won't be eating solid food) from 12pm to 6pm on wed and thursday. Join me if you wish =) Fasting/Praying does not twist God's will to ours, but we offer it up as a spiritual act of worship, to honour God. More important that anything else is to pray for God's Will to be done, not ours. Cos His will is Good, Perfect & Pleasing! (Romans 12:22)

It's About Getting Dirty

Hope you guys had fun during yesterday's fishing trip. Came late with Isaiah, Matilda and Sheena. We went to the toilet and was so disgusted by it - sight and smell. It was so dirty.

Sheena and Ruo Ping were talking to Isaiah about missionary trips. And I remembered about the book I read. Dirty Faith: Becoming the Hand and Feet of Jesus.

Who says being a Christian is easy? It's all about getting your hand and feet dirty for God. The book is currently with Isaiah. You guys can borrow from him when he has finished reading it.

It may seem to be a tough job becoming hand and feet of Jesus - but it's a job worth doing.

this week there's no cell meeting cos of the Camp! Yea! btw - For CAMP REVOLUTION 2007, the december camp is confirmed at Sentosa 20-23rd Dec, so I'm hoping you all will help 2 plan out this camp. what you all think?

QUIET TIME! - the book OUR Journey that i passed out, it is a daily material that will help you to get into a regular quiet time habit, gives you something to learn and think about. so i really hope all of you will fill in the centre portion and mail it in. they will send it to you every 2 or 3 months. its what i am using too!
